Our History

Pro Print has grown from modest beginnings into one of South Africa’s leading print houses. While our technology has evolved, the values that shaped us in the early days continue to guide every part of our business today.

Our journey began in 1964 when Ernest and Doreen Roberts seized the opportunity to purchase the print division of Allen Hanburys, now GlaxoSmithKline. Armed with just a few Heidelberg machines, basic equipment, and a dedicated team of 12, they laid the foundations of a business built on skill, craftsmanship and genuine service.

Their son, Barry Roberts, joined the business in 1965 and spent the next five decades driving growth and innovation. Under his leadership, Pro Print expanded into a fully equipped, cutting-edge facility, capable of meeting the fast-paced demands of modern printing while keeping true to the spirit of excellence that defined our early years.

Today, Pro Print is proudly managed by Yvette Roberts, daughter of Barry Roberts and majority shareholder. With a loyal team of 184 staff – many of whom have been part of the family for over a decade – we continue to honour our heritage while embracing the future. From paperless workflows to digital proofs, we remain committed to delivering precision, quality, and personal service at every step.
